Professor Saiful Islam was invited to the Nine Lessons to give a talk. His talk title was ‘Lithium vs Lemons: Batteries Included’. The Nine Lessons, organised by The Cosmic Shambles Network is an evening of comedy, science & music. Congratulations!

Professor Saiful Islam gave a talk at OXFORD MAY MUSIC FESTIVAL. Talk title was “Materials for Green Energy – Crystal Gazing on the Atomic Scale”. Event took place on 31st of April at The Church of St John the Evangelist. See more here: (link)

Professor Saiful Islam gave a Eckersley Lecture. Talk title was “Materials for Green Energy – Crystal Gazing on the Atomic Scale”. Event took place on 30th of March at Bedales Theatre in Petersfield. Since its introduction in 1966, Bedales’ annual science lecture has attracted leading scientists including two Nobel Prize winners. See more here: (link)

On 14th December at Christmas Schools Lecture (University of Birmingham) a talk was given by E.H. Driscoll, D. Butler and P. Slater. The title was “Rudolph goes green”. Thank you for an invitation!

Professor Saiful Islam was invited to give a talk at Professor Brian Cox and Robin Ince’s Compendium for Reason show, a charity event of science, music & comedy to 4200+ people in the Royal Albert Hall in London on Nov 23rd. See more here (link).

Professor Saiful Islam was invited by Education In Action to give a talk at Chemistry in Action in London on Nov 14th. He spoke to 800+ school students about green energy materials using 3D glasses! See more here (link).

Prof Saiful Islam gave a Kelvin Lecture at the Royal Philosophical Society of Glasgow. His talk topic was: “Making a materials difference to Green Energy (batteries included).” The Kelvin Lectures were founded in honour of William Thomson, Baron Kelvin of Largs a year after his death in 1908 and have been hosted by the Institution ever since. Birmingham researchers ran a ‘meet the expert’ stand on Li ion batteries at the Thinktank Museum – Birmingham

Birmingham researchers took part in a joint collaboration with Faraday Institution projects ReliB and Nextrode, interviewing industry (Cornish Lithium, Echion Tech, JCB, Ilika) for an outreach video series highlighting roles in the battery industry
